Meiling Palace/Former Residence of the Chairman of the National Government / 美龄宫
Built between 1931–1934, Meiling Palace served as the official residence of Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling (Madame Chiang). The palace is famous for its elegant Chinese-style architecture with Western interiors, over 1,000 phoenix carvings on its glazed roof, and its iconic aerial view where the surrounding plane trees resemble a jade necklace with the palace as the pendant.
